About
From my home office in what I hope will someday soon become the 51st state, I most often write about travel, food, parenting, women’s stories, and all things culture - pop and otherwise. My essays, articles, and humor pieces have appeared in a variety of publications over the years including the Chicago Tribune,
Parents, Business Insider, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Paste, Kitchn, Kveller, New York Daily News, American Baby, Curbed, Working Mother, and Shape.
My latest book, No Access DC, was recently released from Globe Pequot Press and is my sixth book about Washington, DC - refer back to the 51st state. My other books include Great Food Finds DC and Washington DC's Chef Table. I also penned the hotels chapter for Fodor's Washington, DC for many years and edited several Michelin guides. I earned my MSJ from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism and, when not writing, lead narrative writing workshops.
